As an example of how I like to play, my first playthrough I chose to have a random life and I spawned as a young American-Irish woman in the South during the 1800s. I'm not 100% sure how the AI prompts work, but the text kept guiding me to make decisions regarding my family farm, so I assumed the prompt revolved around agriculture in the Mississippi delta in the 1830s and 40s. The focus on the managerial aspect of the farm was fun at first, but after a certain point I wanted to change things up—the game will not automatically do this for you! You need to type in your own action to change the story. My grandfather was concerned about the state of our farm (in fact, he kept repeating the same concerns for months on end), so I had my character hire enslaved help from a nearby plantation. After encountering the horrific reality of slavery for the first time, my character started to get involved in the abolition movement and bought the enslaved person's freedom. As she was skilled in medicine and midwifery, she enlisted her skills to help ill runaway slaves and began parceling out abolition papers to those around her. Some people agreed, and others vehemently chastised my character for getting involved in the "sinful" abolitionist movement. This created conflict with the community around her and greatly spiced up my character's life, which was way more fun than just deciding which crops to plant for the next harvest. Take this as an opportunity to learn about the historical era that you're playing in. The game is pretty good at informing you of the major historical events happening (my game informed me that the Fugitive Slave Law act passed in 1850 and that affected my playthrough), but you may also need to include smaller historical details in your own text responses. I'm interested in how other people play, so please respond with your playstyle if you're interested in sharing!
