You can also upgrade your weapon and armor at the blacksmith in town, and if you can get the 3 pieces of the sword or the 2 pieces of the staff that will make it easier. If all that doesn't help, it is possible to finish the game without killing it.
ok so what do you even get for killing it like why? Also is the sword and staff pieces all in the forest?
