An amazing game

I enjoyed every moment, the fights are very enjoyable, being comparable to puzzles to be solved and I really enjoyed the designs. The choice of fetishes is very well handled and I also quite appreciated how the less savoury ones were always optional.

I have only a few minor complaints, which i'm sure will be gone by the time the main game is released.

Those issues are as follows :

The combat is a bit simplistic and leaves little room to be solved the non-intended way.

Some of the enemies have gimmicks that I, on a personal level, find mildly annoying, but not a deal breaker.

The world is a bit small, though as this is a demo, that was to be expected really.

All around though, very solid demo, and I look forward to the main game eagerly :)

Spoilers bellow

I will proceed to elaborate on my small issues as mentioned earlier, along with some other misc stuff I feel the need to talk about.

I find it a little bit disappointing how many of the zombies loose their infection mechanic after the beginning of the game. Perhaps this is only a minor bug, or i just didn't notice it in action.

Talking of the infection mechanic, this timer that takes various forms across the bosses, mildly annoys me. I wish there was a way to at least temporarily revert it. Though perhaps that would go against the point of the mechanic. I just wish I sometimes had a bit more time before it progresses.

A good example would be the magical girl fight. I understand it's meant to be very difficult, though I find it to be a little overkill to have it attempt to progress the infection mechanic every other turn when it gets up to 3 actions per turn.

Additonnaly, could it be possible to have more dedicated "Game Over" screens that show what happens of the main player character after their defeat  ? I find it sad that all the unique ones are only at the start, every enemy afterwards (with a notable exception)  simply begin the fight again as if nothing happened.

I think it could make the game more enjoyable, same for a simple "surrender" skill for when you run out of options to defeat an enemy you can no longer deal with or simply to see the game over screen.

I also think the throwing knives could use the minor buff of being returned to the player after a fight ends, it would be a band-aid patch to the problem of them not returning to the player when they loose, but it would make them more usable.

Thank you for your time and effort, and for reading my poorly worded comment. :)

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! If you don't mind me asking, could you let me know which enemy gimmicks you found mildly annoying?

(1 edit)

There’s only really 2 gimmicks I found annoying, the second one much more than the first*.

The on that annoyed me…though not that much, was the way enemy can just dodge attacks, more particularly the sisters in the endgame after the main plot happened.

Even with the bat equipped, using the throwing knives, they sometimes got to completely ignore my attacks. Take that with the fact throwing knives aren’t refunded after the battle is lost, I kept losing them over and over and inevitably had to reload a save before that fight to finally have my dice rolls work.

It didn’t annoy me that much simply because I had a save not that far away. The walk back over to the fight wasn’t too long from the top of the map.

The mechanic that really annoyed me on the other hand, was the way many of the boss fights have a way to install the player after about 3 to 4 turns of dealing damage unless all of their limbs are disabled.

It annoyed me as those bosses have a tendency to regain all their attacking limbs at once. It makes using the upgraded knife practically a necessity when I sometimes wish I could use other weapons like the bible or the torch that works so well against the giants and every manner of tanky enemy.

Thank you for the great feedback! In the next update, I will reduce the enemies' damage and add a way to cure the infection that instakills the player. I'm thinking of adding it to the self-healing skill
