Review of “Ice Age Baby Adventure”

At first glance, Ice Age Baby Adventure looks like a typical itch.io meme project: a rough-looking menu, an absurd premise, and intentionally comedic presentation. However, behind the joke-like exterior there is actually a fairly solid small game.

The core gameplay revolves around simple “find an item and bring it back” quests. Despite the simplicity of this mechanic, the game does not feel empty. The levels contain small labyrinth-like sections that are intuitive to navigate and do not create unnecessary confusion. The player quickly understands where to go and what to do, which keeps the pacing smooth.

A particularly memorable moment appears before the finale. The player encounters Wallace and Gromit, accompanied by their recognizable theme music, and receives a task to go back through the previously explored maze to retrieve an item. This moment unexpectedly introduces a backtracking element and slightly changes the pace of the game, making the already familiar location feel different.

The final section includes a small platforming challenge with parkour over lava, which gives the game a sense of climax and acts as a final test before the ending.

Despite the meme nature of the project and the large number of internet jokes, the game runs surprisingly well. During the playthrough there are no critical bugs. The controls are generally comfortable, although sometimes the character makes a small forward jerk after stopping.

In the end, Ice Age Baby Adventure turns out to be an unexpectedly well-made small indie project. The game does not try to be serious, but it still offers a complete gameplay experience with clear objectives, level exploration, and light platforming. Behind the absurd humor there is a carefully assembled game that shows even a meme concept can be implemented with attention to gameplay.

P.S. The moment with the USSR anthem was especially surprising. Honestly, I did not expect to hear it in a game. The last time I heard it was before the collapse of the Soviet Union.
