Loved the demo – a question about the music and future updates

Hi!

I just finished playing the demo and wanted to say that the game has a gorgeous atmosphere. The pixel art, the nighttime setting, and the mysterious creatures give the world so much personality. I was immediately intrigued by the story and the world you're building.

I love the moment during the phone call with the father, when the narrative music starts. The music in those moments fits perfectly with the dreamlike tone of the game and reminded me a bit of the emotive style of classic RPGs like Chrono Trigger. The Island of Dreams is simply brilliant.

I was also intrigued by the card-based combat system. It's an interesting idea, and I was wondering if you plan to expand it later with more strategy or intensity in the battles.

I'm a composer and I enjoy working on narrative RPG worlds like this, so the game's atmosphere immediately caught my attention.

Do you have a Discord server, a development log, or an email address where you share updates about the project? I'd love to follow the development and see how the game evolves.

Great job with the demo!

Hi, thank you for playing the demo. The cards will have different types, and different combinations of cards will have different effects on nightmares, including inflicting status effects. The combo system interacts with the synergy system, increasing knockback or the duration of status effects. Some nightmares can add trash cards to your deck, but all trash cards go away at the end of a battle.  Dev logs are here on Itchio, and I don't have plans for a Discord at this time.  While I'd love an original soundtrack for the game, I don't have the budget right now, and I refuse to let people work for free.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! The combo and synergy systems sound really interesting, especially the idea of nightmares adding junk cards to the deck. That could create some very tense battles.

I also really appreciate your approach regarding paying collaborators. That’s honestly very respectable.

If the project continues to grow and at some point you consider adding an original soundtrack in the future, I’d definitely still be interested. The world and atmosphere you’re building have a lot of personality and I think music could really enhance the dreamlike tone of the game.

In the meantime I’ll keep an eye on the devlogs — I’m curious to see how the combat system evolves.

Best of luck with development!
