Won't launch because it can't find a Steam licence.

This should not be happening because this release is meant to be separate from the Steam release, especially now that it has been delisted.

Now, I don’t know if anybody is still around to check comments here, but even if not. I wish for you to know that I’ve read the heartfelt goodbye message and that I empathize with the struggles that you have faced. I am really, really sorry that it didn’t work out for you.

There are unfortunately many such cases… And it never becomes easier witnessing it all go wrong…

Hey Gavengelthegrim,

Thank so much for the kind and understanding message, that means an awful lot! I do check back every now and then but I haven't seen this message before, especially on the itch builds.

I'll have a look into it and see if I can find out whats happening.

Thanks!

Just reporting back - I haven't managed to track down what might be causing this but its potentially something to do with the game no longer being available on Steam. That said, I'm not sure what that would be - I'll keep trying to track down the cause when time allows, it may require a new build and stripping out any Steam related functionality.

It’s possible, regardless thank you for trying. All I could personally comment on is that I’ve ran many types of launchers, configurations and games before both on and outside itch.io and I’ve only came across this issue two or three times at most. I distinctly remember there being a total conversion horror mod someone published on here doing that, but I can’t recollect the name at the top of my head. Never got to play it either, then again that developer/modder vanished.
