Lyre has been silently sitting on my 'to play' pile for a few years now, but i had a free afternoon and wanted to try a FVN again so i thought i'd give it a shot, not expecting much since i don't usually enjoy FVNs much (I have been disappointed by some in the past and dropped them half way through). I started at roughly 3pm, it's now 1am and I've just finished it.
There's so much to love about Lyre. The setting is beautiful, most backgrounds and CGs feel amazing, the colours are stunning, the writing is really good too, maybe i'm an idiot but i truly did get the sense of 'oh god who on earth do i trust'. And for once? i actually enjoy the MC, Richter. He's realistic, feels like i'm playing as an actual human being and not some sort of robot trying to emulate human emotions. I found myself understanding his actions, why he does the things he does, and why he acts the way he does. Honestly a breath of fresh air.
Lyall is, of course, the perfect good boy. He's just great. 10/10 boyfriend material right there. He feels so geniune too, i never once questioned his love or feelings for Richter cuz they felt true.
The other characters feel very fleshed out considering this is only book 1 too. Adrius is simply fantastic to watch on screen. I love to hate him, but I was happy when he was present in a scene, because he feels so multifaciated. Oh my sweet deer boy i don't think i'll ever be able to form a solid opinion on you. Even the side characters, even the minor ones, felt so interesting to watch and develop as the story went on.
I'm absolutely excited for whenever Dryz is realised, you best believe i'll be playing whatever comes out as soon as possible
