Crashes when starting an instant action game

My game consistently crashes when starting an instant action game, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it within the folder, and it still doesn't change. It does seem to save all the mechs I've made, so I imagine it's an issue with reading the data from older mechs? I imagine it'd probably be fixed if I can delete the old save data. This started after the most recent update, using the windows version. I saw that this has also been an issue with a previous update, so maybe that older issue resurfaced?

Aside from that, I would just like to say well done on a great game! I found lancer a while ago but struggled to set up a group to play the base game, as it can be a lot for people to learn. Having this game lets me play around with all sorts of builds in my own time, whenever I get the itch to try something new!

I had a go at deleting all of my older mechs (I wanted to reduce clutter anyway, I had about 50) but unfortunately that hasn't fixed the issue

I tried deleting my save data entirely but I still have the same issue

Hi – it sounds like your computer may need to run the game in Compatibility mode. Frustratingly, Godot made some updates that I’ve been unable to track down that cause problems on some video cards.

Questions/tips:

  • Does the game run if you launch it from the compatibility shortcut (if you’re on PC) or when you download the compatibility .app (if you’re on mac)?
  • Does it also crash if you open the map editor?
  • Deleting instant_action_setup.json in your saves folder would have been another thing to possibly try, but it sounds like you already covered that.

So weirdly it does seem to work now, I'm not sure why, I haven't changed anything since the last time I ran it. I tried running it in compatibility mode first to test what you said, maybe that changed something? Could also just have been caused by something else, like a windows update.

Strange! Well I’m glad it’s working now — let me know if you run into any more problems!
