Idk how to save bernard?
There are a couple different things to save him from. If you chose to save Logan during the werewolf event then you need to wait to be able to save Bernard. If it's about the Wraith fever thing, then go to your hut and study.
For the Werewolf event. It does not matter who you save first. You can save both Logan and Bernard eventually.
Though, if you will need to save Logan first to get his hearts, if I recall correctly.
For Wraith fever, you will need to study in your hut.
