First of, thank you so much for giving our game a go. I am really glad that you liked it so much. As the person, in charge of art and sound design, it's really nice to hear your praise. Now onto your complaints, they are not just valid, but are exactly what we were thinking in development (for the most part).
- The whole placing of furniture mechanic was done quickly and should be reworked at some point, but with the one week time restriction, we decided to leave it as is. I do agree that red warnings are a lazy way to deal with item clipping and idealy, this shouldn't be possible in the first place. The controls would need MASSIVE reworking and playtesting in order to feel fair and make mishaps feel like your own faul, instead of game being janky.
- Furniture snapping either to one another or onto some sort of a grid system is an idea we were thinking about. It would make the placing of the furniture feel more predictable and make the player feel more in control, but again, we just didn't have the time to properly implement such a feature.
- Your ideas for restrictions are solid and I definitely could think of some more. We kinda settled on some simple ones, as to avoid making the game feel too confusing. We didn't explain this properly, but the blue walls were originaly meant to be source of electricity and water, that's why every piece of furniture that requires it, either of those.
- The game has no "you win" ending, it might benefit from a tutorial that kinda explains what the objective is. Though I think the objective in one corner and a countdown with a score in another is a clear enough indicator that this is an endless game.
- At the begining of the game, there are a couple of "waves" of predetermined sets of furniture (you get the table, then chairs, then bed, etc.), but at some point the next furniture set is generated randomly.
Once again, thank you for both the praise and the constructive critisizem. I really apreachiate you taking the time to write such a comprehensive review for our little jam game. Sadly, we don't plan to continue the development on this game, since we didn't put much though into maintainablility, so going back to tweak stuff would be a hassle. Also this is my first time participating in a game jam, so I kinda just wanted to see what I can make in a week.
