My first playthrough I broke open iron and got some ore but didn't notice my inventory was full before gathering, while the game tracks me gathering the ore it never shows up in my inventory even after I made space and broke open new ore nodes.
Did you press "F" to open your full inventory? That's interesting I had thought that it re drops if the whole inventory is full
