Idk which version you're playing, but you can zoom in and out with scroll wheel to a pretty generous distance, to the point where the camera doesn't pick up the tank's ambient sounds. I had no problems with performance, but maybe try lowering the graphics and see if that helps?
I honestly can't see where you're coming from. The physics are core to the gameplay, and I didn't have any motion blur.
