Same thing happens to me. The Mac download also doesnt work when I tried to unarchive it. Not sure if that's an issue with the program I'm using or with the game though.
I can download and play it fine through the website, just not through the app. It might be a problem with the Itch app or something went wrong in posting the update so you can't download and install through the app. Either way, it's annoying.
