This game is fantastic, well done! Would you mind please clarifying a couple of points?

1. When rolling on ‘Phenomena’ (regardless of which specific one), do you also need to roll at least 1 ‘Power’ at the same time in order to enable ‘Scanners’? If so, it looks like the only way to scan a Black Hole would be to ‘Charge Battery’ on the previous move in order to save up 1 ‘Power’, since there is no way to roll 4x “threes” for a Black Hole and also roll for Power at the same time. Additionally, there would need to be no Threats present - the odds of scanning anything seem astronomically small in this case!


2. if I’m wrong about the above, and you can scan Phenomena without the ‘Scanners’ selection within Power, then how does the ‘Scanners’ roll work? I roll 1 Power, I select Scanners…how do I then scan Phenomena? Do I just re-roll my four dice and hope to get some “threes”?


3. When it comes to mining Asteroids and scanning Phenomena, it talks about only being able to do it if there are no other threats present. Are threats still present after they’ve inflicted their damage? For example, there is 1 pirate and he inflicts damage on me - can I then scan Phenomena, or is the pirate still considered to be a threat in that turn?


4. “Any asteroids or pirates that are rolled in addition to a Spaceport or Outpost are automatically destroyed by the local security force and their threat neutralised” (a) does this mean that any pirates following me from previous turns don’t get automatically destroyed, only the ones rolled in addition to the Spaceport/Outpost? (b) do I gain the 5C for each pirate killed by local security, or is that only from a direct kill?

Thank you for your feedback! I'd be happy to clarify your points:

Black Hole does not yield any reward for scanning, and is instead an extremely rare but potentially game-ending threat if your ship is not in good health. There is definitely some ambiguity in the ruling.

Scanners work by resolving what's already rolled: If you roll a 1 and any number of threes (or have a Charged Battery) you can scan and collect the reward by spending the 1 Power cost.

The 'No threats present' is meant to be literal: you can't mine Asteroids or Scan until any Pirates have been destroyed and as such they must be dealth with first.

If you encounter a Spaceport or Outpost, *all* Pirates - even those pursuing from a previous sector - are instantly and automatically destroyed. Think of them as sentry turrets with military grade armament. You do not gain credits from Pirates destroyed in this fashion as you did not take credit for the kill.
