April? emmm... hey, if you don’t mind me asking but where did you get the info that the game might be released in April? I didn’t see any announcements here nor in the development log, did you mean by that the game will be released in April or you were just hoping the game might be released around that time period?

it’s been quiet here for quite long already, I heard the original plan during the fundraising was that it was planned to release here around Christmas last year and then on steam in feb 2026, now it’s already mid-february 2026, still nothing, no updates whatsoever;

there were speculations everywhere that game might be delayed or put on hold for whatever reason, but the author didn’t provide any info here on the website at all, makes people wondering what’s going on, is the game still developing or being abandoned already.....

Hey buddy, you didn't put much effort into finding it. Check out Mr. Ryu's latest Patreon post. And don't worry, we can wait, I'd rather he didn't release it on time and made a game with awesome CGI animations, a lot of work and love, instead of a flat, basic one.

hey! thank you so much for replying to me, I really appreciate it! and I do understand that good work takes time and everything, it's not about the wait or delay; rather because here it's the official game page, it would be better if the author could at least put a little announcement here or in the log

thus letting the players know about the progress and provide any updates on what's been going on instead of just nothing posted here, nothing at all, leaving the visitors here quite confused, you know what I mean?

and for the records, I did see some visitors who are in the author's discord community commented here months ago saying that because there's no updates on any reasons as why the delay, so they asked the author on discord, but received no response at all, not even from the editors as well; that’s why people are getting a bit frustrated and starting to speculate or worry that the game might be abandoned, and it does make sense you see? I do understand that feeling of confusion and hurt....

besides, you gotta understand that not everyone here follows all of the author's socials you know? hence why it would be much better if there's any updates here on the official game page, this is where most people would come for any updates on the game itself right? this is the site for the game, the release, any progress, news, everything....., since there's no feedback provided here at all, you inevitably start to wonder what’s going on, and fyi a lot of people don't even have a patreon account you see, not to mention players from other countries right?

so definitely I would argue that not knowing anything from patreon post is completely understandable, I don’t recall the author ever said that his patreon is the official site for any announcements or updates, did he? I’m not sure, but the lack of communication from the official game page or for that matter any other social platforms except patreon is not a suitable way to talk to your players imo.....but hey, that’s just me, my personal thoughts, not speaking for anyone else...

but anyway, thanks for the update from you, finally after months and months of not hearing anything from the author at all.....; btw, what did the author say in the patreon post? did he give a specific release date already or a potential approximate time period for the release? that being said, I am still really grateful that you get back to me for an update from the author, so thank you again!

The author mentioned above that due to the high standards for the quality of their work, they have produced a bit too much content, which has led to a delay in completing everything by the expected time. Now, they are saying that the itch version will be released around mid-April, and the Steam version will be available in either June or July (they can't quite remember). If you, my friend, are willing to wait for a while, I'll go to the original post and copy the text directly over.

Hey, thank you so much for providing the info on the author and the game's dev progress, I genuinely and really appreciate it! I totally understand the reasons for any delays etc...like I said above from earlier posts, to me it’s never about the delay, I am willing to wait for years or decades to get a game with good quality, and from the author's past reputations, it is always worth the wait for ryu's works, and I am very grateful for all of that hard work;

meanwhile the community has always been supportive, so it’s really not about how much time waiting, the author and his team can take as much time as they need, but the lack of updates or messages here on the website it definitely causes confusions and frustrations and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only one, and I do understand the author might have his personal reasons or other factors in play for sure, so sadly this inconvenient situation happens because the lack of contact here from the dev team

it might be helpful if they put up little quick messages here to keep the players posted but anyway now thanks to you, people could log on here and see the author's post from patreon and get an idea about what's the plan for the game as we speak so that's good and I guess it doesn’t matter now what's been going on for all this time, what matters is that we have a potential release time and we could all start looking forward to playing the game in the near future right :))

The following is what the author said in the Patreon post.

Hey everyone,

I'm really sorry I've been heads down on work lately. Stefan hasn't had time to help me out, so I haven't been able to update you all on my dev progress.

I'm bummed to say that the Itch version of "Those NPCs' Love Stories" is getting pushed back to late April 2026, and the Steam version to late June.

The delay is due to some unexpected stuff, plus I've remade all the character 3D models. I wanted them to look more like portrait-style CGs, so I spent a ton of time on that.

I've also invested time in learning new tech to bring 2D CG to life. Alongside the existing Spine animations, I hope the teaser CG Clip will immerse you further in the narrative and spark your imagination.

Here's what's changing:

Main game delayed: Itch version to late April 2026, Steam to late June.

Reward game release: December 30, 2026

Full upgrade and remake of all 3D NPC models

Added intro CG Clips before CG events

These additions are all to make the game experience better, so I hope you'll understand the delay.

Stefan will be back next month after wrapping up his personal stuff, and then the community will be back to normal with quick replies and updates.

Thanks so much for your support.

Mr. Ryu

Now after seeing the author's updates, that’s more reassuring to know what's been going on with the game so thank you again!

I just wished you know, that the author could’ve copied his post from patreon and posted it here or you know just put a simple quick announcement here to let the players know what’s been going on and reassure everyone, that might ease the confusion a lot at least...

cause I’m pretty sure even till now there are quite a lot of people that still don’t know what’s going on if we don’t have patreon and haven’t seen the posts, and I still think giving a little quick update messages here might help cause people are understanding and supportive at least the majority of people are, it's being kept in the dark that’s what frustrates people, but I’m glad that you have been kept up to date from patreon, so that must’ve been relieving I guess right :)
