just downloaded the map the other day so havent done much on it but when i planted alfalfa (rcr version) in field 20 it shows ready to harvest on the growth map but the field has no crop texture. when i run a mower over it i get small clumps here and there. havent had a problem with other crops yet

So this is probably just that the field hadn't updated yet. Alfalfa is setup to be mowed at any stage (you just get less for mowing it at earlier stages). When you stand on the field, you should see what growth stage it is in. On the growth map, it will show ready to harvest because technically it is. I hope this makes sense.
