Hi everyone! Shoobius here! I’m leaving a comment down here because I like to have my game descriptions be wholly focused on actually communicating the game and the e story.

Unfortunately, due to significant time constraints/extenuating circumstances, I was only able to make about a fifth of the content I wanted to make. The original plan was for 7 total powers (one for each color of the rainbow), a world about 4-5 times the current size, and a final boss fight.

It would have also seen you actually painting the ground beneath your not-feet, rather than just kind of turning a different color. The effects would be tied to the color of the ground rather than the player’s color, which would allow for unique problem solving by painting things in different patterns. For example, a paint that makes you go fast and a paint that bounces you could be combined to launch you far across the map.

Alas, in its current state, the project is closer to a linear platformer with an interesting physics system than an open-ended Metroidvania. Believe it or not, about 90% of the actual content of the game was made in one day - during the previous days, I only had time to work on the individual systems like dialogue and painting (which, I admit, were over engineered for the scope of this jam).

Speaking of dialogue, I put a heavy focus on both writing and atmosphere (through things like SFX and animations). Once it became clear I would not be able to include the content like I wanted to, I decided to at least attempt to communicate the “vibe” that I was going for. It might not end up being a very popular decision, but I hope at least a few people get enjoyment out of it.

Anyways, if you’ve gotten all the way down here, thank you so much for reading! If you’re participating in the jam, make sure to leave a comment so that I can rate your submission. And if you’re not participating, I still think you’re cool and you should leave a comment so that I can thank you personally ;)
