I understand that this ending is not the most pleasant, but it is the most logical and correct one. I have already explained why in a few comments below (under Ken’s comment). I do not plan to add a happy ending, as it would simply nullify all of Alex’s problems, which, in my opinion, would make the whole story just meaningless
