Promotion-wise, Mastodon can actually work well if you’re active and not just dropping links. Indie dev circles there feel more genuine compared to bigger socials. I’ve also had decent results sharing progress in itch.io devlogs and jumping into jam communities. Engagement comes more from showing process and personality than pure promotion links, especially on platforms built around indie creators.
