This game seems like it has a lot of interesting things going on, but it's just unapproachable. All of my attempts to play it end after I get hurt before making any progress worth keeping, and with a complex medical system and no supplies to start with, it just feels easier and more reliable to restart than to hope I get unbelievably lucky with finding some medical supplies.
I think level generation also holds this back a lot. I've only seen the first area, but the way that terrain generates feels incoherent. Odd block placements and gaps feel more like the underlying random noise and less like the level it's supposed to be. This is especially jarring when it comes to artificial hazards: I think I've seen only one or two impaling traps that have actually generated on ground flat enough to fit them, let alone in places that feel deliberate. Even as I enjoy watching the little dude get flung by an exploding corpse and accept the detonation of strange bodies as a fact of life, there's something that just feels wrong about being killed by a trap in a spot that only a random generator would pick.
