I appreciate the comment about the sprite. I'm primarily an illustrator, not a pixel artist, so I was worried about how the sprite would come across but it seems it's an unfounded worry.
As for the movement, I'm glad you found it interesting. Honestly, it was done that way because I didn't want enemy movement to be so linear and predictable as well as to try and emphasize some sort of spacing. But I think it's a ways off from how I would really want it to be for the mobs alone. Let alone the boss, which I wanted to make even more unique.
As for cheesing my game in that way... yes, in the sense that I didn't have time to set up proper debugging tools so this was the best I got. And I figured it was best to just leave it in the game that way just in case people wanted to just get through it quickly as well.
While I appreciate your comment about it being short... it definitely ended up shorter than I originally planned for it to be. I absolutely want to expand on this more after the feedback phase! But I'm glad you enjoyed what I had managed to do in time for the game jam itself.
