Trembling Essence Devlog 13: ❄️🌨️Cleaning things up!❄️🌨️
Hellooo hello and welcome new followers, here's a update of what's been going on so far! This post might be a little longer than usual given how much has been done, I tried my best to condense everything. :,]
Morning route progress:
I am happy to conclude that the Morning route is not only finished but all the 6 choice now progress the story completely! I am overall happy with how far I've come. :]
-Beta testing game fixes-
My play testers and I went through the game several times after this and A lot was found and cleaned up. This was a great learning experience. :,]
Here are the things that have been edited/fixed within the game:
-Multiple dialog adjustments throughout the entire game.
-Fixed several CG transition errors in the Afternoon route.
-Added a missing variable in a Afternoon route choice section.
-Placed hidden dialog that balances the routes back into the game.
-Fixed a bug where a missing variable auto-lead to a Bad Ending.
-Adjusted/updated the Bad Endings you can get in the cabin with new dialog/CG animations. Redundant visual effects were removed.
-Fixed a minor bug where Noah's closeness bar was still showing in the Bad Ending's screen.
-Cleaned up the Endings Gallery and removed endings that are no longer obtainable.
-Decided to keep the Bad Ending soundtracks/SFX's transitioning into the ending screen as a quality of life choice.
-Made a custom warning intro screen. This took a while to get right because I kept making mistakes, this initially had a different look but my play testers liked this version better. :,3
-Found a very unique game breaking bug where the warnings screen soft locked gameplay when pressing 'Start'.
-Deleted old dialog from different scenes that were placed elsewhere in the game.
-Fixed up persistent data that was accidently removed during beta testing.
-New CG added for the gyro!! ((I almost forgot to redo this.)) :,3
- A part of the Morning Route section had to be redone due to a missing ending breaking the game.
-A small chunk of dialog from one of the 6 choices after Noah goes to bed was moved later into Day 3 to balance out some of the "light-hearted" moments.
-Fixed a small bug where I accidently added 2 extra variables that made choosing the "Continue to wait." skip an entire scene into the rest of the route.
-Created a new variable for alternate dialog to appear depending on specific choices that initially didn't have any due to an oversight.
-Added a bit more alternate dialog in the Morning route based on your closeness with Noah.
-Switched dialog reactions with 2 variables that were misplaced.
-Added a missing soundtrack towards the end of the Morning route.
-Colored text boxes have been added back into the game again!
-Added animated nighttime window scenes in the Morning route that were missing.
-Removed outdated CG's, animations, visual effects etc.
-Added a Delete button into the Save/Load files! So here's a funny little story. For the longest time I didn't know you could delete save/load files by pressing the "Delete" key, I just saved over them with a new save or added them into a new slot. One day I accidently pressed the "Delete" key while hovered over one of my saves by accident and discovered it! I'm pretty sure this isn't known that well so I wanted to fix that. :[]
Towards the end of fixing everything one of my play testers went back through some of the routing two more times and ended up finding a couple more errors that we initially didn't catch. :,D
Outside of other things that enter spoiler territory that's all I can really say for now.
