WOW. This game. I’m going to give my honest review.
Do I think Into the Mountain is worth playing or checking out? Absolutely.
Do I think it needs some work? Of course.
While playing Into the Mountain, I found myself completely pulled into the gameplay and immersion. I loved the idea of starting the game as a 2D platformer; however, I do feel that some of the early levels were a bit too long and challenging. The game eventually shifts into a 3D experience, but at times it felt like the overall pacing leaned too heavily on the 2D platforming. With some tweaking to the opening, I think the story could flow more smoothly. It’s a wonderful concept that could be executed just a bit better.
Once the game transitions into its 3D storytelling, I found it incredibly intriguing and captivating. I really enjoyed the coming-of-age elements and the themes explored through the eyes of a 12-year-old scout. That part of the story genuinely stood out to me.
Without getting into spoilers, I also want to say that I loved the interactive elements you discover while exploring the mountain. That aspect was especially cool and added a lot to the experience.
Overall, I can’t wait to see the full release and future improvements. Huge thanks to the developer for reaching out and allowing me to play—I had a ton of fun.
And let me say it one more time:
PLAY. THIS. GAME.
