Your concept is strong and I really like the loading/shooting mechanic you built into the game. The different bomb types are great here as well, and I liked how easy each one was to identify based on the recolor. I'd be curious to see how your game would play differently if I was able to aim the cannon with the same keys I move the player character with—I think switching to Q/E for this was OK, but it slowed me down each time I went to load my cannon in a way that never really let me get into a groove when firing the cannon.
