Beat it on the first try. Never take an action that looks like stabbing something until that is the only action available.
Eventually some dark hands try to cover your screen and the reset run button is displayed more prominently... But you can still click on things behind that. Just go and click all of the rest of the kill cards, then go complete the ritual.
