About the bomb on the first click, I double-checked and you're right that it never happens. I wasn't aware that it worked that way before, so I just assumed there was a chance.
As for the items, while I struggle to get them in the first place (my skill issue lol), I haven't seen any of them actually having an effect even after the first click. The only one that seemed to do anything were the ones that gave more lives. No mines nor safe spaces are revealed after the first click, even after purchasing their respective items.
Potentially was because you need to have at least a click on the screen to use the items.
With https://yawp-games.itch.io/hexplode/devlog/1318221/v003 I added a bit more information on the Items you have in case you cannot use them, which is only when you did not click anywhere yet.
