If you could perhaps grab a screenshot or two, that might help.
If it's just the regular hunting delay based on target size, then that's an intended part of the game, not really a bug. But if it is taking a full minute for the food objects to spawn in, and you technically get the food (in your stats at the top) before the objects show up, then that does sound like odd behavior.
Unfortunately, I've not ever seen that happen personally, and have not been able to recreate it from how it was described, so I'm not sure if I will be able to do much about it for now.
