Ok, that now sounds like a outdated graphics drivers problem. To fix this one, you need to update your graphics drivers. If you are using nvidia, they have a free app on their site, that gives you more control over your GPU. It also has some other handy tools, like shadowplay and filters.
In the app, you should see the graphics drivers tab, where you should have a "check for updates". Updating may take a little while and it sometimes makes your screen flicker, as your whole sydtem is adapting to the up to date changes to the way your GPU works.
Once you do this, it should hopefully work. I understand if you don't want to burden yourself with this, but outside of it making the game available for you to play, it has many other benefits. I am sure that other GPUs, that are not Nvidia, have their own app.
