If I buy their Patreon version, will it automatically update when there's new content? Or do I have to go and download it myself?

Hi. The game doesn't update itself, you have to download it each time. In Patreon you get early access to the latest build. If you want the whole game as a single purchase you can follow me here on itch and follow on Patreon (for Free) to get updated when it's released.
