My thoughts on this game are a little convoluted.
***SPOILERS***
I wholeheartedly enjoyed it for a vast majority of the game, but unfortunately, the secret ending ended up ruining one of my favorite parts of the game.
I loved how Cece was a non-stigmatized depiction of people with ASPD. She lacks empathy, doesnt feel much remorse, and is egocentric. Yet, despite what most would think at first because of the stigma killing game VNs spread, she isn't the mastermind nor a crazed murderer who kills because it's fun.. She acknowledges that people deserve to be happy, and that she has no reason to take that happiness from them. She only kills as a last resort, even in the bad endings. It's a great way to subvert your expectations!
So my question is-- why ruin all that with the secret ending? Why turn her into another killing game causing stereotype? Why write her to be the one at fault for the killing game? I'm seriously let down by that. Sure, her character is more complex than just that one aspect of hers, yet I really can't help but feel that one scene drags her down by a solid margin.
But nonetheless, I cannot ignore the passion and effort that went into this vn. No bloated prose or dialogue, a bunch of mysteries spread across the game, with some left to solve for those of us who are really invested in it. I would still say that I enjoyed this game A LOT, but I can't shake the sour taste the secret ending left in me.
I'd still recommend this game, despite that part of it. I imagine I'm one of very few who actually care about this sort of thing. Still, I hope my criticism makes some semblance of sense. I enjoyed the game a bunch regardless, and hope to see more from you.
