when you pick up items while looting only the last amount you picked up is shown in inventory, not all of the pickups combined.
The amount shown when you pick up an item is total amount of that item + the last one. You can check out the inventory to see how many of each item you have.
Aha, then I would recommend changing that, it's quite unintuitive. Other than that btw, the progression early game feels really smooth, well done
