Glad to see that you're still around and pursuing your coding/story writing passions!
I hope you keep the interesting parts like the map, gossip, group/items descriptions and the relationship between characters. I still use this program today as a way to organize characters' placements in games/stories I make!
Certainly. Gossip will likely be incorporated into the drag-and-drop editor and not a separate dialog system to make it more intuitive. Things like Items, however, is more likely to be an "addon" more so than a core feature. Reason being is because Story Creator in it's current form is too opinionated, and I want to strip down the opinionated features and generalise it a bit. That doesn't mean you won't be able to add Items, I just feel custom data is better used and managed by programs where you have more control over the data.
Maybe I add custom data options later, but this will likely be a future update and not part of the first release.
