Hello Poogles, and huge thanks for the long review and all the feedback!
You’re absolutely right — a lot of the information on how to play is unclear or too hidden in the tutorial text and in-game messages. I’ll try to give as much clarity as I can on the issues you mentioned while I work on fixing these bugs. I’m also not entirely sure whether I’m allowed to publish an updated version while the jam is still ongoing, but I’ll look into it.
Issues & Responses
Issue 1: The intro cutscene is long and unskippable
Response:
The intro is actually skippable by holding down any keyboard button for a couple of seconds, but I agree that this is not obvious. I’ll make it clearer.
Issue 2: Tutorial information is unclear or hidden
Response:
You’re right — too much important information is buried in text. The controls are currently listed at the bottom of the tutorial/instructions page, but that definitely needs to be more visible and user-friendly.
Issue 3: No feedback when clicking “Buy Now” on the drone website
Response:
The drone purchase website is only needed if your drone has been destroyed. Still, I agree the button should give clearer feedback so players understand what’s happening.
Issue 4: Windows on the PC cannot be closed
Response:
They are closable, but because of my screen effects you currently have to click slightly outside the window rather than directly on the close button. This is something I’m working on improving.
Issue 5: The radio view cannot be exited
Response:
You can close the radio with the Backspace key, but that isn’t communicated well. I’ll make this much clearer.
Issue 6: Drone.exe shows blank/static screens or doesn’t work
Response:
I’m not sure why Drone.exe didn’t work for you at first. If you have the time to respond to this, I’d really like to know whether you played the browser version or downloaded version, since that will help me track down the issue.
You can exit Drone.exe at any time with Escape.
Issue 7: Drone controls (especially bombing) are unclear
Response:
Totally understandable — the controls aren’t communicated clearly enough during gameplay. I’ll work on surfacing this information better so players aren’t stuck guessing in the middle of combat.
Huge thanks again for taking the time to try my game and for writing such a detailed review. I genuinely appreciate the effort and the constructive feedback — it’s extremely helpful, and I’m really happy you took the time to share it.
