Unfortunately, I can't do anything about that right now. Since onions are part of that DLC, they are loaded unlike other crops so I can't control whether or not NPC plant them. Thundr is working on a fix for it so he will figure it out. For now, you probably just need to not select the Highland DLC pack at the load screen if you want to avoid this.
