It was over 2 or 3 years ago when I discovered the project on social media and a call for devs to submit a room. I sent a message to Kite LIne asking if I can be part of it. I had no idea what I was going to make but the idea sounded really amazing. 

SOUP ROOMS is a SOUP-like room tourism experience directly inspired by SOUP, an obscure Japanese minimalist art-game from 2007 where you walk around a series of small abstract rooms and generally soak in the atmosphere. Think of it as a sort of digital art gallery.

I got to collaborate with Til Nomi who made the beautiful center art featuring three birds. I organized the room layout and wall designs after writing the kanji for bird on a piece of paper hundreds of times and scanning it. I opted for a extremely low FOV to simulate the feeling of viewing through a binocular.  That's the gist of the room.  The small constraints of the project made this a lot fun to work with

If it sounds like something you want to create, there are tools to make your own soup room too. It's not difficult at all, just involves dropping some files into a folder and changing text in config file. Would be a great idea for a game jam. I think I might run one actually.
