From my experience, if you kept moving over your files to the newer version, it will cause some lag and crashes, because the files are trying to update themselves to the newer version. I had this same problem, it was just the lag however, so it's best to delete your save and start over, because I completed everything and I suffered no lag or crashes, is can also be your device, I'm using a shitty laptop so it has it's own issues.
