For almost restircted area with few employees refillment is neded maybe once a season. In our case vending machines are more a requirement of research center, not some business from street. As we now specialists work at night and can have "problems" with cooking or warming up food.
So, i think its needed becouse in real life we dont have giant armoured drone capable to carry 30 kg and speed up to 300-400 km\h
