There is a bug in which research doesn't complete if you aren't looking at the research tab. The progress bar on the tab 'bounces', and the generated data counter increments, but you don't actually get that data. There is another bug in which changing your selected focus changes your available open battles, and if you engage in a battle the switch your focus, it is hidden but stays engaged.
