Not sure if this is a feature or a bug (I think it's a feature), but I was able to get the witch to give me an ending-important item by asking her for it without solving the puzzle.
I love this game by the way! Thank you all for your hard work.
I have had similar experiences. Sometimes it fits that particular roleplay, otherwise it kinda happens at random when the AI thinks I wanted them to give me the item. I usually just "pretend" it didnt happen.
