[Spoilers] Some interesting quirks and features (glitches) + Fanart!

Spoiler Alert!: If you haven't beaten the game yet, you might want to avoid this post!

So I was playing Forever today and I came across some interesting quirks that I thought to be worth mentioning! 

(I seem to be a magnet for glitches on video games lmao)

- It looks like you can "store" cut-scenes/character dialogue by pausing and restarting/quitting to the main menu before triggering it.

This can be infinitely stacked, it also persists between level changes.

Can be funny, but it's certainly exploitable. Specially with M.Aleficence's fight. (This only works in the boss room, but will crash the game if you play the pre-fight cut-scene in any other level).

You can also get yourself stuck in a loop (oh no not again!) by doing this with Big Boi's dialogue after you rescue him in "Save Big Boi!". 


- Pausing while quitting (pausing during the fade-to-black as you confirm) will crash the game if you select "Player setup" after the fact.

I unfortunately don't have a log for this, but it's easy to reproduce. 


There's also some odd behaviour related to how the game switches input devices, which can break the game quite a lot, balance-wise.


- Holding any key on your keyboard while holding a button on your game pad at the same time (e.g. holding Caps Lock + holding D-Pad Down), will make the game pad input repeat itself without any delay. 

This allows you to spam inputs, like pausing/unpausing the game really fast, or turning the notepad gun (and most ranged weapons, except the AK-47 and Laser Blaster) into what is essentially a death laser. 

(Also works in Catto-Laga, making it a literal death laser!) 


Unfortunately it also works in multiplayer (tested running a local server with two game instances). So it has the potential to make things really unfun™ in an MP match...

This was done without any macros, btw. Just holding a key on my keyboard and pressing two buttons on a standard Xbox 360 controller.

I was hesitant to showcase this because the abuse potential is quite high. But I think it's best to show it so it can be potentially fixed? 

- Some weapons' projectiles will collide behind you if you're too close against a wall. (Laser Blaster, Plasma Ball)

- Legend's Wield's fire particles can stick to you if you dash and quickly swing twice. It's only visual, can be stacked, only can be seen by you in MP. Harmless and honestly quite funny!


Don't play with fire, Big Boi!


As for other Multiplayer stuff I've noticed:

- Some weapons don't seem to count as a player kill in MP: 

(Feed displays as "<Player> died." instead of "<Player1> was killed by <Player2>")

- Biscuit

- Bomb

- Bow & Arrow


- Selecting restart level in the pause menu during a match shows "You can't do this in singleplayer!" (In multiplayer :p)

As a final (bonus) thing:

I drew some fan art a few weeks ago, and I did not know where to post it. so might as well do it here! 


I really like M. Aleficence's design, or I might just like villains a bit haha. I may have taken some artistic liberties with the design, mostly because all I had as reference was their in-game sprites. 🤔

JuJuAdams' Input library would be the cause of the input spam issue. hopefully just updating it will fix it, but if not, I'll raise an issue in the developer's community Discord.

I will also look into the other issues and hopefully fix them soon. your post is greatly appreciated, and I'm glad you enjoyed the game! (hopefully big boi is okay,,)

Just played the update, I can confirm the input spam issue is gone. Attempting the same thing now just cancels both inputs.

Everything else also seems fixed, except maybe the weapon projectiles colliding on a wall behind you (laser blaster still does it. and now the bow & arrow does it too! It seems to have been fixed for the plasma ball, though.)
