narratively, i think everything is literal, though i would be curious to hear other's interpretations. i think the game is more about its themes than any kind of direct metaphor if that makes sense? like, it's about existentialism, and nihilism (rationalizing ourselves as conscious, thinking beings in the midst of an uncaring universe), the value of caring despite the terrible things that happen, a glimpse into the thought process of a Very mentally ill teenager. idk. i'm rambling but i loved this game
