OMG the art!!!! It's so so good. Did you actually hand paint the assets?  The surreal style / ambience reminds me of Paradigm. Seriously though the art is so pleasing to look at. I also loved the mushroom animation too, it was very trippy and cool.

My only criticism on the visuals is that I wish the UI matched the rest of the art style a bit more! But that might not have been feasible with the 9 day timeline.

At first, because of the kind words at the beginning, I thought this was going to be a virtual pet sim! I was a bit sad to realize I'd be trying to destroy the mugshroom instead of nurturing it.

The battle system is good, but I think having sound feedback for the fight moves would have made it feel more satisfying and impactful.

I'm really curious about the lore though. How did the mugshroom come to be? What happened, and why do we have to fight it? Would be cool if there was some backstory or exposition, though I did like and notice some of the environmental hints in the background art.

Great work on this! The art alone makes it memorable.

Thank you for your kind words and detailed criticism! Yes all the art is hand painted with watercolors (made by brother, we worked on this as a team of two). I'm very glad you liked it!  We actually had many more assets (a few more bosses, cards, backgrounds), but were not able to implement them meaningfully into the gameplay. Same goes for the UI, and sound effects (we actually made some original SFX, but again, due to a lack of time we decided to focus on other things to deliver something within the timeline).

I had never heard of the game Paradigm. But it looks very interesting. Will definitely try it. Thanks for the link.
