I can confirm that at a certain reputation level in the paid version you can wear whatever you want around any creature and initiate with them. But for the tiers that provide better loot you'll still need to at least wear the correct disguise.
and for other people who see this comment that play the free version; you're still able to reach a reputation level that causes to be indifferent toward you, but you'll still need their disguise to initiate a scene.
