this reminded me of an experiment i heard of long ago. people are introduced to a button that electrocutes them lightly, and later theyre put in a room only with that button to interact with. after a while, most of the people end up pushing the button even though they know it hurt them before. boredom? curiousity? self-sabotage? i don't know. pulling the chain felt uncomfortable yet i couldn't "let go". what an experience!
that’s such an interesting connection to make! I love your interpretation of the “compulsion” of pulling the chain. It’s the only thing in the game to do, but there’s nothing forcing you to do it.
