Hello!

I'm currently working on my own GZDoom game and came across your project. I was wondering if you could help me understand the licensing rules for the GZDoom engine.

I’m a bit worried about accidentally violating any copyrights. My game is nearly finished.

In the beginning, I used the FreeDoom IWAD as a base, but over time I replaced every asset and built my own maps and content. Now that the game is in its final stage of production, I just want to make sure I’m doing everything correctly and legally.

Any advice or clarification about what I need to pay attention to when releasing a commercial GZDoom based game would be greatly appreciated because it look like you have done it right!

And sirry for the off topic question 😅

Greetings from Germany

Heya, Sanya here.

I’ll try to answer your question best I can.

FreeDoom should be a free replacement for the Doom assets under a BSD license.

Still, I’d just doublecheck and make sure you replaced all the assets and remove the ones you don’t use just to keep things clean and spiffy.

And sirry for the off topic question

no need to be sorry. I am glad to help with questions like these.
