Made me feel physically sick. Awesome!

I think I got all three (?) endings. First was the escape, then the escape artist, and last the return to the performer's tent. I think the last two transplant you directly into that feeling of succumbing; being folded in and swallowed up by the seemingly-insurmountable fabric that is the rampant rape culture in our society. The heavy emphasis on rape culture in showbusiness specifically adds to the suffocating , rock-and-a-hard-place atmosphere. It's all made more painful by the love that comes from being an artist and surrounding yourself with other artists--every option you have is limited, painful, and full of loss. You can choose to confront the evil, losing your community, your art; you can choose to shy away from the evil, losing your autonomy and your will; and you can choose to accept the embrace of evil, losing everything.

Some notes on the language: I appreciate the detail put into decisions regarding how each character talks and is talked about. I think it lends the language a certain precision that is essential to any good interactive fiction. This also might sound weird but I think my "favorite" ending is the return to the performer's tent. The last paragraph hits very hard and I think it captures the feeling of blaming yourself for being in a bad situation, even though, in truth, the culture itself is responsible for making such a shit environment in the first place. Also I love the final transformation from circus into FREAK SHOW, perfectly captures the recognition of evil while submitting yourself to it. You're not just a performer now, you're one of the freaks!

I think you did a really good job of capturing the horror, shame and embarrassment that takes hold in the wake of these kinds of traumatic experiences. Keep making things!
