these types of games don't usually need skillful 3D modelling. Characters are made by literally adjusting sliders inside a program, and can be easily imported int o the render engine. Of course, you can always *make* your own models, but the community is so extensive that it's really easy to find models, maps that are similar to what you need.
I'm not putting down the work behind these games, because I know how difficult can storytelling and posing be, but modelling knowledge/skills are not neccessary at all.
