The email I have on my save from Dr Bao does describe the floppy disc/zip drive system. Odd that you didn't get one. Did you play from an old save, or did you start a new one? Mine was a new save
This is the first email from Dr. Bao that I have in my new save file on the 0.9 update
I had the same thing happen, when I loaded back into the game; it changed over to explaining the floppies/zip drive. It might be residual code.
