You need to set the time to that which is on the photo you were given. Minute hand is Long, Hour hand is thin. If you don't know how to read analogue though, Shorter hand points at 3, longer hand points at 7

do you not have the clock hand somehow? it should have been acquired in the underground

No I don't, also which underground (to clarify I means the bishop chace or red maze, I did understand that red maze was underground)

The underground that leads you to the fountain for one of the 3 items that gets you the photo to open the gate with?

Oh no I just got the correct path their first try, dived in the hole, and now can't get back in (on the main file, thank god for common saves) because "the clock is broken", so do I just do the maze again on the next closest file, more thoroughly this time?

you acquire the clock hand from the right hand side and that should force you to be chased back to where the path to the left is

So just to confirm the intended route is this: 1, go to red maze, 2, find pit room, 3 be chased out by something, 4, acquire clock hands, 5, loop back to pit :and this didn't work for me? (Presumably cause I am on joiplay or some similar such reason)

The chase can't happen until you get the clock hands normally, there is a guide someone made if you wanna rely on that for specific details
