It is not a scam. Many of us use external links which are linked to file hosting sites. Some of them use pop ups and ads. I suggest you use an ad blocker like UBlock Origins before you cry about about links being a scam.
Since this is a non-profit game, no one is paying for file hosting site fees, which is why I need to use some free ones.
